Full Visibility at all Heights: The Challenge

Over the years we’ve worked in partnership with DDS demolition on many projects. They work to ensure the safe destruction of huge buildings and the safe clearance of waste leaving a clean and clear site behind. And we’ve captured it all using our time lapse cameras.

Our work on this particular project began in 2014, when we started installing time lapse cameras at Sovereign Court in Hammersmith, West London. The West-45 office block and adjacent multi-storey car park was to be demolished and ground works prepared for a new apartment block.

Working with neighbouring buildings, we were able to find a great location to place a camera safely and permanently - bringing the work into sharp focus for stakeholders across the organisation. Once the camera was in place stakeholders and site managers were able to view the footage using Lobster Vision, our time lapse software. Lobster Vision allows for users to look back over countless stills and images to better site manage their project, see progress and plan for the future of the site. The software gives clear weather details in conjunction with the MET Office and provides two minute time lapse videos each week, which are downloadable from the platform for stakeholder use. These handy tools are useful to drill into the essence of the project, especially one of this scale and magnitude. At the end of the project we then provide a fully produced film.

We’re really proud of our relationship with DDS Demolition and even more so with this project that had zero accidents or incidents and a 97% recycling rate. This large scale project also paved the way for one of our cameras to chart the new build for St George West, which has now been in place for over two years and counting.
