Security at all Heights: The Challenge

Lobster Pictures were commissioned to work with ISG to document and monitor the internal fit out of the United Airlines lounge at Terminal 2, Heathrow, London. The project was to last 8 months, with a number of invested stakeholders both in the UK and globally needing to monitor the project remotely: so we recommended two time lapse cameras and our site monitoring tool, Lobster Vision.

With such a high profile project the risk of security breaches is bigger, so ensuring the security of the project was our number one priority. The installation had to be approved by both the ISG team and Heathrow Terminal 2 security, requiring detailed risk assessments and method statements and proof of competence at every level. This required careful planning to satisfy the strict security requirements of the location and to ensure there was little or no impact on the schedule of works for any member of the team.

Global Online Site Monitoring

Our time lapse cameras (Lobster Pots) enabled the project to be viewed by both the customer and the project team throughout the project. This was particularly useful for those stakeholders not based in the UK allowing for a reduction of: site visits, time, money, and it provided complete transparency for the work that was being carried out.

First Class Media Production

On completion of the project, the ISG team visited ‘Lobster Towers’ in Bristol and worked closely with our editors to create multiple edits of the time lapse video. The film incorporated the entire eight months’ footage as well as additional footage provided by the client to help promote the project through digital, PR and more. ISG used the final time lapse video at the grand opening of the terminal and you can see it on board their flights.

The Result

“The project at Heathrow’s new Terminal 2 was a very complex project to deliver and complete. There were several stakeholders involved in the development of the new terminal. Every individual who had input into the delivery of this project, including Lobster Pictures, had to go through Heathrow’s strict security process to obtain either a full airside pass or a temporary access pass.

Having the ability to monitor and document the process remotely using Lobster Vision was very useful in helping save time and pass on information from the project.

Our customer, United Airlines, was extremely pleased with the outcome of the development and the professional manner in which the team delivered the project. The time lapse video of the project was shown at the grand opening of the new lounges, an ideal summary of the work that went into the project.”
